Cannes between sea and mountains

Sea & Mountains

Daydream on the beach under the mild winter sun and ski in the same day. Impossible mission? Not here. The Côte d'Azur allows you to combine sea and mountain. With our planned itineraries, enjoy a stay in Cannes to test the powder snow in the skiing resorts of the Southern Alps.

Enjoy the seaside awhile then head off to tackle the ski slopes, all in one day! Such a stimulating combination is easy from Cannes, for if you fancy hitting the heights in the Mercantour national park or the Pré-Alpes d’Azur regional park, 15 winter sports resorts invite you to revel in the joys of snow on 700km of runs, four months a year.

The closest to Cannes are Valdeblore-La Colmiane (93km), Valberg (104km), Isola 2000 (113km) and Auron (114km). Endless opportunities to practise downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoe trailing, or even horse-drawn skijoring, airboard sledging, ski gliding and speed flying.

Cannes near the mountain

Don't forget, you are in the Alpes Maritimes, a department well named whose territory is occupied by 80% mountains, and is bathed in the Great Blue. This proximity to the high country with the Mediterranean Sea allows combining sea and mountain. Only a drive of one hour and thirty minutes separates Cannes from the skiing resorts of the Southern Alps, which are nestled in the massifs of the Mercantour and du Cheiron. Faster, by helicopter: the Azur Helicopter airline connects Cannes to Isola 2000 in 30 minutes.

Between late December and early April, your stay in Cannes can be white on a blue background. The skiing resorts of the Maritime Alps: a balcony on the sea from St Tropez to Monaco.
